Tokyo Startup Pitch Night Vol.17

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 06, 2018

Josh Deckman

Every 4th Thursday of the month some of the MekaSmith team members step away from their computer screens and practice our human interaction skills. Sounds mechanical but it's entirely necessary. Especially if we wanted to see what all the other startups in Tokyo are creating.

We love the startup beat here, the hustle of Tokyo, it's such a contrast to the salaryman culture here. Startup life here is different. It feels new. Imagine when you forget a word you know very well, and you are trying to recall what that word is. It's on the tip of your tongue. The feeling once you remembered it, that 'ah ha!' moment. That's Tokyo startups culture. It's as if, every time is a new experience that's very familiar.

There are many travelers and digital nomads from around the globe visiting Tokyo. This month's pitch night was hosted at a place that encourages just that, digital nomading. Welcome to pitch night vol 17 at Tokyo Chapter.

Don't let this scary dark entrance photo scare you.

Despite the abandoned ghost ship for sailor babies decor, they were playing 'Baby Shark Dance' in the background which calmed our engineer Caleb.

Jokes aside, Baby Shark Dance was not, you can learn more about Tokyo Chapter at ninetytwo13 here. They have a fantastic workspace/living space/community, and we highly recommend you look them up!
